The Hibearnation Vest is a Dress item worn on the chest slot from the Reign of Giants DLC. It requires 1 Thick Fur, 1 Dapper Vest, and 2 Rope to craft and an Alchemy Engine to prototype.

When worn, it provides excellent protection from freezing (with an insulation factor of 240) as well as reducing the rate at which the player loses hunger by 25%. Due to the Hibearnation Vest's hunger reduction, it is useful to wear during not just Winter, but also in Spring and Autumn. Using the vest with characters that lose hunger normally (75 pt/day) will make them lose only 56.3 points of hunger per day. Wolfgang's normal form will lose 84.4 while his mighty form will lose 168.8 pt/day, and Wes will lose 70.3 pt/day.

The Hibearnation Vest provides a decent sanity gain while worn as well, at 4.5/min.

The Hibearnation Vest can be fixed with a Sewing Kit, which repairs it by 71% of its Durability.

Trivia

• The Hibearnation Vest is the second best sanity restoring item in the game, the best one being the Tam o' Shanter.
• Hibearnation is a play on words of 'hibernation' and 'bear'.
