Deerclops là trùm cuối chỉ xuất hiện vào Mùa Đông, trừ khi người chơi chỉnh sửa trong option. Có máu cao và trâu, khả năng phá hủy các Kiến Trúc (tương tự như Búa) và đốn hạ cây tương tự như Đồng Hồ Xe. Deerclops hung hãn với bất kì sinh vật nào nó gặp và có khả năng giết hầu hết chúng. Vẻ ngoài hung tợn khiến Tinh Thần người chơi giảm khi đứng gần.

Cần bốn Gậy Băng để đóng cứng và bốn Tiêu Mê để nó ngủ. Khi bị giết, tạo ra 8 Thịt và thêm Cầu Mắt Deerclops, một món không bị thối, giúp tăng Máu và Sức Đói lớn nhưng làm giảm Tinh Thần.

Tập tính

Deerclops lang thang quanh suốt Mùa Đông, đặc biệt tìm tới người chơi nếu họ ở trên đường đi của nó. Khi tới gần đặc trưng bởi tiếng gầm gào sâu (tương tự như Chó Săn) và nhân vật sẽ thông báo. Sau đó, mặt đất rung chuyển bởi sức nặng của nó. Không như Chó Săn, Deerclops không bám dai người chơi. Khi nghe tiếng gầm đầu tiên, người chơi cần di chuyển xa để tránh giáp mặt chúng.

Deerclops has an attack in which it will either swipe or pound the floor at its current target. Both animations have the same effect, damaging all mobs and structures within a radius of about 2.5 berry bushes. It usually does not immediately target the player upon arrival, having an "aggro distance" toward any mob it gets close to. Deerclops first tries to target the closest structure to the player at time of being "released" (i.e. spawned); if no structure is close enough to the player, then the player is targeted instead (although this tends to be rare). Deerclops will in general not target walls, unless the object or mob Deerclops is aiming to destroy is behind a wall. Often, walls and other structures or mobs nearby may suffer collateral damage anyway, despite what Deerclops may target. This is the reason walls don't stand up well to a Deerclops.

Deerclops aims to destroy all structures and then leave. Note that the only structures counted are the ones targeted by Deerclops directly - collateral damage is not counted, meaning many more structures may be destroyed before Deerclops is "done". Naturally, if the Deerclops is aggroed by the player or other mobs, it will hang around to take care of them first, before continuing to destroy structures or leave.

Khi người chơi ở dưới Hang Động vào Mùa Đông, khi đi ra nên cẩn thận do có thể chạm trán với Deerclops ngay trên miệng hang.

Cách săn

Có thể hit and run Deerclops, nhưng cần phải căn thật chuẩn và chỉ được đánh một nhát, do khả năng cận chiến của nó bao phủ rộng khiến khó chạy kịp nếu đánh thêm nhát thứ hai, kể cả với tốc độ chạy nhanh của Wolfgang hùng mạnh. Máu của nó trâu nên hit and run sẽ mất nhiều thời gian, cùng lúc đó Tinh Thần của người chơi cũng tụt nhanh. Nên mặc Giáp, cần khoảng 2 hoặc 3 Giáp Gỗ và Nón Bóng Đá mới đủ, không thì chỉ với 2 nhát tát là chết. Chuẩn bị khoảng 10 Thịt Khô để hồi máu. Kết hợp với Gậy Đi Bộ và thời gian click để tăng tốc độ né, hoặc bỏ chạy đi xa. Chú ý, Deerclops sẽ làm đông cứng người chơi (giống như cách bạn bị dính gậy băng) sau 2 nhát, do vậy không điên mà đối đầu đường đường chính chính.

Deerclops không ngủ vào buổi tối nhưng làm ngủ được bằng Sáo Thần Pan hoặc Tiêu Mê. Tiêu Lửa hoặc Gậy Lửa cũng hiệu quả nhưng hơi tốn, thêm nữa vật phẩm rơi ra sẽ biến thành Tro, được 8 thịt chín nhưng không được Cầu Mắt Deerclops. Deerclops cũng có thể bị đóng băng rồi sau đó bị tấn công dễ dàng từ đằng sau.

Deerclops dễ dàng bị giết nếu người chơi dùng Giáp Vỏ Sên bằng phương thức chui ra đánh rồi lại lẩn vào, cứ thế. Với nhân vật Wolfgang max khỏe (300 Sức Đói, 300 máu và 2x damage), người chơi dùng Chày Gai Xúc Tua hoặc Chày Thịt đối đầu trực tiếp mà không bị ảnh hưởng gì nhiều.

Cách khác hiệu quả khi có nhiều Bẫy Răng là dụ Deerclops tới. Cần 34 bẫy răng mới giết được. Người chơi nên hit and run để giảm số lượng bẫy cần dùng.

Ngoài ra có thể dụ nó đánh nhau với sinh vật khác. Nó có thể đánh nhiều con một lúc. Ví dụ lùa nó tới đàn Bò Lai, chúng sẽ tẩn nhiều con một lúc rồi 2 bên quay ra đánh nhau. Nên có Gậy Băng để đóng băng Deerclops ngay khi hỗn chiến xảy ra, do Deerclops dễ dàng xử lũ bò con hoặc bò nhỡ. Thần Rừng cũng cân được Deerclops. Lều Walrus cũng dụ tới được; MacTusk thì né giỏi và thậm chí giết được nó, còn nếu chết thì người chơi nhặt được các vật phẩm từ MacTusk.

Cách khác là khi có một Thần Rừng trung tính ở nhà. Dụ Deerclops tới để phá hủy cây, làm kích động Thần Rừng.

Cách nhanh nhất vẫn là dùng Thuốc Nổ và Đuốc. Trứng Thối có khi để Trứng trên mặt đất, hoặc một đống từ Cánh Cụt Biển, còn Than dễ lấy bằng cách đốt cây. Chỉ có Tiêu Thạch là phải đi nhặt. Thuốc Nổ gây ra 200 sát thương do đó cần 10 thuốc nổ là đủ giết Deerclops. Đặt 9 cái một đống gần Deerclops càng tốt (nên đóng băng nó hoặc làm nó ngủ) rồi đốt thuốc nổ. Với lượng máu ít ỏi còn lại của nó thì xử lí bằng vũ khí không phải lửa. Do đó vẫn có thể lấy được vật phẩm cần thiết.

Chạy khỏi Deerclops dễ dàng hoặc đơn giản là nhảy xuống Hố Giun. Sau khi mất dấu chúng sẽ tìm thứ gì đó để trút giận. Mũ Bụi Cây giúp người chơi lần trốn khi cần.

Dưới đây là số cú đánh cần thiết để giết Deerclops với từng loại vũ khí với người chơi có lực sát thương cơ bản. Weather Pain không được liệt kê do tính năng nhẫu nhiên của nó.

Deerclops Options

Deerclops attack frequencies may be adjusted in the World Generation Options Screen as follows:

As one can see from the table, "default" and "less" is actually the same setting. The "More" setting adds up to 2 attacks per season, while the "Lots" setting ups that to 3 attacks per season, which includes both winter and summer. Note that even on the final setting, Deerclops will still despawn once summer starts (but not when winter starts) - meaning any Deerclops spawned during summer won't actually despawn until the next summer begins on that setting!

Additionally, the spawning of Deerclops appears to be tied to the change of snow cover, which regulates when a new Deerclops may spawn. This has the effect that even if Deerclops is set to 1 (i.e. the default), and then killed near the end of winter (when the snow cover may change, but still be above the threshold required for a winter Deerclops), it is entirely possible for another Deerclops to spawn very soon afterwards.

Due to the way snow cover change regulates the Deerclops spawning, the actual number of attacks one will experience may vary wildly from that in the "setting". That is, at best, all one can know for sure is that setting it higher will probably result in more attacks on average, with the possibility of a summer attack on the final setting.

When set to the "Default" or "Less" Deerclops setting, It is possible to survive through multiple winter without seeing or hearing Deerclops. In theory, setting Deerclops to "More" should guarantee that Deerclops attacks at least once per winter.

Reign of Giants

Trong bản mở rộng Reign of Giants, Deerclops có khả năng đóng băng, kể cả người chơi. Nó cần 2 cú đánh để đóng băng. • Deerclops was added in the A Winter's Tale update. At the end of the update's trailer, the screen goes black for a brief amount of time. During this time, the growl of the Deerclops is heard.
• The name "Deerclops" is a portmanteau of "Deer" and "Cyclops."
• The Deerclops can also be a reference to the yeti because of the winter counterpart.

• Pictures of the Deerclops appeared in the update teaser video for the Long Live the Queen update, at around 30 and 45 seconds into the video (see pictures). It is clear that the image shown was an older/simplified design for the Deerclops.

• Although it's usually not possible to see two Deerclops spawn at the same time, if this happens (due to a bug or by spawning it via the console) the two Deerclops will be hostile to each other, unlike other boss monsters.

• According to Maxwell, the Deerclops is myopic.

• Sometimes the moaning noises can be heard, but the Deerclops doesn't seem to spawn. This happens when the snow melts below a certain threshold (e.g. when summer begins) after the Deerclops is "on the way" to appearing.
• Deerclops can be used as a rare Steam profile wallpaper.

Lỗi

• Note that in the base game if a Deerclops is killed prior to the start of summer, another one may be spawned to replace it within a few days. A Deerclops respawned in this way is counted as being part of the same "attack", so the total number of Deerclopses spawned during a season may actually be higher than the "number of attacks per season" listed in the Options. This is suspected to be a bug since the attack is supposed to "cease" immediately after a Deerclops is spawned (which should mean that Deerclops won't respawn until the next "attack" is due).
• In Reign of Giants the sound effect for the freezing attack is extremely loud, will stay loud even if the in-game volume sliders are all on 0. It is advised to lower the volume in your OS and turn up the in-game volume when fighting one or at least not wear headphones.
