Butterfly Wings is a Food item dropped by killing Butterflies. They are a very reliable drop (98%), although there is a small chance of getting Butter instead (2%).

Eating Butterfly Wings will restore 8 Health, the same as a Spider Gland, and a little bit of Hunger. They can be used to create Butter Muffins in a Crock Pot. Butterfly Wings can be easily farmed by setting up a Butterfly Farm.

Reign of Giants

With Reign of Giants active, Butterfly Wings can be acquired by destroying Tumbleweeds. Doing this won't provoke Krampus. Butterfly Wings can also be given to Catcoons to befriend them.

• A Butterfly / Flower Farm is formed by catching lots of Butterflies and planting them as Flowers in a small space. Flowers will spawn more Butterflies. Alternatively, the player can catch a bee with a Bug Net, then drop it on the ground. "Homeless" bees will wander and spawn flowers at random instead of returning to a hive/box.
• They are advisable alternative healing method to the flower petals, as they are 8 times more effective. Additionally, they may be used in the Crock Pot recipe Butter Muffins.
• An efficient way to hunt Butterflies is to run close to them while they are moving (or not) and to do a quick attack by pressing Ctrl+F with no weapon.
• Pigs that eat butterfly wings will produce manure, just like when they eat a vegetable. However a pig cannot be given the wings directly - the player must drop the wings on the ground and wait for the pig to walk over and eat it himself.
